Ocean Park Hong Kong

Ocean Park is unique in that it offers so much choice for all groups of age especially families with young children in a wonderful surroundings. It has a real mix of activities: exciting rides, aquarium, zoo, funfair and a theme park in one place. Maybe the idea was to compete with Disney Land Hong Kong.

The theme park size is huge and it is separated by a mountain into a lowland and a summit area.  These two areas are connected by a Cable Car and an underground train.  It can certainly keep you entertained for all day. It is advisable you come up with an itinerary so you can identify the attractions you'd like to check out.

Covering an area of 870,000 square metres (210 acres) of land, the park is separated by a large mountain into two main attraction  areas: The Waterfront (Lowland) and The Summit (Headland), which can be further divided into eight different attraction zones: Amazing Asian Animals, Aqua City, Whiskers Harbour, Marine World, Polar Adventure, Adventure Land, Thrill Mountain and the Rainforest.

Ocean Park has about 35 attractions and 19 rides, including three rollercoasters, and it also houses 11 animal exhibits, such as a giant panda habitat, a jelly fish and Chinese sturgeon aquarium, as well as a four-story aquarium displaying more than 2,000 fish. The park has won several awards, including The World's Seventh Most Popular Amusement Park and 33rd Most Visited Tourist Attractions in the World by Forbes.

When you plan to go here, you can check the program currently running at Ocean park. It hosts five major events throughout the year: a varying Animal in High Definition Month, the Ocean Park Summer Splash, the Halloween Bash and Christmas and Chinese New Year celebrations.

  • Halloween Bash. The celebration events are held from September to 1 November. You can enjoy frightful fun at different haunted attractions and Halloween-themed shows, as well as colourful decorations, pumpkin sculptures all over the park and terrifying ghosts throughout the park.
  • Animal in High Definition Month - enable visitors to encounter a variety of rare animals up close, with educational experts on hand to disseminate vital information about these creatures. They have a reptile theme called, "Mighty Dragons" and  a reptile theme called, "Mighty Dragons".
  • Ocean Park Summer Splash - held in summer every year, in which guests partake in various wet and wild thrills including water games and water slides. In 2013, the Summer Splash featured Hong Kong's first indoor fluorescent-themed water war game party for a heated water battle.
  • Christmas Sensation - held from December to January every year. Visitors can enjoy park-wide Christmas decorations and a wide array of shows throughout the park.
  • Chinese New Year Fiesta - held around January to February every year. The celebration usually features lantern displays, God of Fortune visits, lion and dragon dances. In 2013, the CNY Fiesta featured a 12-metre spinning lantern, as well as a traditional Chinese drum show.

To cater to the dietary needs of Muslim visitors, Ocean Park now serves Halal food at Lakeside Snacks, bringing visitors new delicacies to go with the picturesque lakeside views. The dishes served include Hainan chicken rice, chicken satay, beef satay, special chicken wraps, garden green salads and fresh seasonal fruit cups, which are all certified by the Incorporated Trustees of the Islamic Community Fund of Hong Kong. From source selection to food processing, these treats comply with religious rules, giving visitors peace of mind for their fun journey in the Park.

You may not visit all, better to make a list of your top attractions to visit. However, It almost difficult to cover everything in a day, because there is a big queue for every ride you want to go. You can go first to the grand aquarium at the waterfront area then go up to the summit by cable car to conquer the rides.

Getting here:
You can Travel via the MTR to Admiralty Station and then took the city bus 629 to the park. Buy a return bus ticket as its easier.
